May 18, 1978Prof. G. Roger Edwards The University Museum 33rd and Spruce Streets Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104

Dear Roger:

My apologies: two weekends in Massachusetts, built around a nucleus of business, all sorts of end-of-the-year activities here, out-of-town and overseas guests etc. etc. have played hob with my manners.

We're getting a new director here on July 1st, Fred Licht who taught at Princeton years ago, moved on to Brown and Williams, became involved with CRIA after Florence was flooded in '66, then directed the University of Florida's program in Italy. He has not been free to return since he came for a candidate's interview in the midst of one of the winter's better storms, so I have not had a chance to discuss an overhaul of programs and responsibilities. They have burgeoned with the new building and need re-viewing. Ermoyennis sits in one corner of my office, a reproach every time I hang my coat behind the door; When I have talked with Fred Licht, I probably will have a better idea of where I stand "time-wise". This is really an interim report. I still have odds and ends of my mother's estate to deal with, but the wearing family demands of 1964-1977 are no longer a factor.

Back to 1904, I see. What made the P.O. revert?

All the best to you --
