Dear Peter:
For various reasons I suspect we could not expect any very active interest on the part of our Board of Managers in any extensive project for the Basilica, partly because it is a bit outside our present range of interests.
It is conceivable, however, that funds might be raised from some foundation through an application which the Museum might support.
I regret to say that I myself know little about the state of your investigations, your evaluation of the importance of the building, the nature and possible cost of the project you have in mind. If you would furnish me with a basis for discussion along these lines I would be glad to take it up with Fro Rainey when he returns in a week or so.
Other questions which I may well be asked in this connection concern the matter of division of finds under the coming regime. Is there good reason to suppose the arrangements will continue as before? I gather you entertain some hope.
With all good wishes to you and Electra and our Cypriote friends.
Sincerely,
