3 b) 1, 2, and 4 of my letter of Nov. 3. As to 3 b) 3 perhaps between us we could work up something composite: I don't envisage more than a paragraph or so. With such an Introductory Note as I have in mind I certainly feel that the Historical Commentary should stay as is.

3 b) 5 1-4 I should be interested in doing something about in a purely ancillary way. As you say, you aren't in a position to tell in many cases from the notations on the coin envelopes which coins come from what sections of Curium. Given time I could go over the inventory list and indicate which is from where and lists could be made up accordingly. Your guiding hand would be needed, however, in interpreting results, statistics and the like. And though in the end we may well have to say that results in some instances are inconclusive, it does appeal to me as is desirable to have done.

In respect to 3 b) 5. 6) I am in favor of a brief repetition, if you are willing to do so.

As to the concordance of publication numbers and Curium inventory numbers of coins I have amended my views somewhat since talking with Margaret and Ellen. I judge it would be definitely undesirable to insert the Curium numbers after each catalogue entry. There is, it seems, a precedent, however, for a concordance at the end, in Mrs. Brett's catalogue of the Boston coins. Margaret seems to feel that there would be no violent objection to our submitting such a concordance along with the manuscript to the ANS editorial committee, and that the size of your manuscript is not so great as to make us hesitate to do so, if we decided to, on the score of increasing the number of pages.

It would be a task, of course, to make up a concordance, but, whether or not we decide that one should be added to the publication I would like very much to have one made. It would, I know, be very useful to others of us who are working on Curium, whether published or unpublished. As Ka non-numismatist I would suppose in theory that it would be of much use to numismatists as well (either of our day or later) and to other types of scholars too; but we can consult on this point and perhaps decide later whether or not to ask the ANS to include it.

I do not know how easy a task it would be to make up a concordance from your working file. If perhaps you have a card file now arranged according to publication numbers and the Curium inventory numbers appear on those cards, then perhaps we could manage to work it out without too much pain. I could probably arrange to have a concordance made up here, if your file gives the combinations. What do you think?

As to the map which we discussed showing all the sites at Curium, I have one which is intended to be used in Joe's manuscript which I think, with additions, will do very well. I have written him about it and will let you know.

As to the Kourion or Curium problem, Margaret suggested that the combination might appear in the title. Something like: The Coins of Kourion (Curium) in Cyprus, or the like.

My memory is a bit hazy, but I think we discussed verbally at least the matter of the coins purchased locally (designated by L.P numbers in the lists). Should some indication be made of the source of these coins somewhere as distinguished from those properly excavated? No doubt the overwhelming majority were picked up by the guards on the sites and are as pertinent as the others.

Many regrets for being so long about this letter: my life seems to be full of a number of things, as whose is not?
