July 10, 1956Dr. P. Dikaios Cyprus Museum Nicosia, Cyprus
Dear Dr. Dikaios:
This morning I received a consignment of pot drawings from Christophis together with a notation that owing to transportation difficulties no more pots were available for him to draw. I realize that there must be great handicaps to normal routine in the present situation; however I am writing a special appeal to you to do whatever you can to expedite the pot-drawing as it is absolutely necessary to make up the plates for both Bamboula and Kaloriziki this summer before my departure to Greece (which is the first week in September). By the same token, if you are willing to have any of the pots from your tombs at Kaloriziki illustrated - in case that would illuminate my material - I would need your pot photos in the immediate future as well. In view of plate restrictions I doubt if it would be possible to include very many of these. However, it will still be useful for me to have the photos for study purposes as late as this autumn in Athens when I hope to spend some time on conclusions.
With thanks for your attention to this matter and very best regards,
Sincerely,
Jack L. Benson
