EPISKOPI LIMASSOL

SKELETAL MATERIAL
I refer to your letters 98/52 of 25 and 31 ultimo.
The items ticked (or x'd) on attached list (1) have been identified. Those underlined are missing.
List (2) is material not on list (1) and therefore not examined by L. Angel (except perhaps for the "n & j" items under "Unidentified"). In any one bag there may be some measurable material. Kalorizíki Tomb 1 Skull fragments have been restored to some extent and may be measurable.
My footnote to List 1 refers to three small boxes containing restored crania. The boxes are marked "SEAA" as are all those marked by me "x" in Part A of List 1 (which were all together in a packing case, presumably intended for export) so they may be special items, perhaps those of the missing numbers in Part A.
The figures at the side of each group in the Lists represent the cubic contents of the group in centimetres, packed. I don't know how these bones would travel, packed loose in bags, (perhaps they would pulverise) but it would be a big job to wrap each bone separately in a paper. The three restored skulls would of course be packed as carefully as possible.
The standard cardboard boxes used e.g., for Ay Erm. measure 18x33x8cms. Some have very little in them and by repacking and labelling much space would be saved but this would take time. Tomb 1, Tomb 1 alone has 23 boxes.
I am afraid that it will be necessary for you to examine the situation on the spot. At least everything is ready for a quick inspection.
A. H. S. Megaw, Esq., C.B.E., Director of Antiquities, Nicosia.
P.S. On reflection, and as it seems that you may not be here for some time, I think it might be best to send you all items for export as the question of "restorability" can be dealt with easily in the Museum.
