Comments with reference to letter of Director of Antiquities, 16 Aug 1954, Ref. 3/35/5:
a. Plaster. Copy of this section of the inventory including catalogue numbers Pl 1-154 will be supplied you.
b. "S" stands for Seals. This category seems to have been abandoned and seals entered in the inventory subsequent to S 104 were placed under other categories, apparently according to material (e.g. St (stone); Mi (miscellaneous).
c. Soundings made on the other sides of the court of which the Achilles mosaic forms one side revealed traces of other figured patterned mosaic flooring but no indication of the agreement as stated by you panels. Under the terms of the agreement as stated by you the Museum can make no claim for division under this category.
d. Main Inventory x Request that the provision of supplementary pages for your copy of the inventory be limited to those categories in which division is being made, with the exception of the Terracotta inventory which you understand, I believe, to be a special case. It would be a serious inconvenience to the Expedition to have to provide a complete series of supplementary sheets at this late date and without adequate secretarial help. [handwritten: x] for the purposes of inventory a complete list of the numbers in each category can, however, be provided. The remaining supplementary sheets for your inventory, including those of the Terracotta series can be supplied conveniently and speedily from Philadelphia after our return.
e. Terracotta inventory
F 50, 51, 53, 55 should appear in your copy of the inventory since our Main Inventory shows that copies were prepared including these numbers. F 101 and 102 are numbers employed by the Youngs and will appear in their inventory when it is possible to supply you a copy. The list of Young terracotta numbers should be emended to read: for"F 1-2..."; for "G 1-2..."; TG 1-2... TP 22 and TP 27 which you mention. This error accounts for the list of Young numbers to P. Dikaios they have sent me the following additional numbers: Trl-2; Tbl-2; Tn 1-2; To 1-2; Tp 1-2, Tq 1-2. I think this accounts for all the discrepancies noted.
f. Tomb-lists. List of contents of Sceptre Tomb appended. Bamboula and Kaloriziki lists to follow.
g. Packing of finds for Philadelphia. Suggest that packing take place on Monday, August 30.
