Curium

Dr. Froelich G. Rainey, Director The University Museum 33rd and Spruce Streets Philadelphia, Pa.

Dear Dr. Rainey:- That I have not written you before is due to no lack of appreciation of the opportunities I have had this summer of becoming to some degree acquainted with Curium-Basker. I have delayed so as to visit with more than a first impression.

The amount of work done here over the past years is impressive. The site holds promise of equally valuable future exploration in various fields and periods. Though I am not qualified to speak for the pre-histories, they certainly appear to be of distinct importance, as Daniels work has shown. Jack Benson should be able to lop off the material in that area. As to the Classical, and later remains, they are highly interesting. The Bluff of Curium itself has, of course, only been tapped, notwithstanding the impressive show made by the theatre and the "Palace - Bath complex, near both of which I should be surprised if more and interesting finds could not be made. The topography of the city is, as yet, very little known.
