Dear Roger,
Dick Stillwell is kind enough to carry Curium papers to you for me,
as I enclose the following:
1.) Negative register of Curium VG films, copied from the typed list of 1941-2, with slight revision and some introductory notes. 37 pages, in original and two carbons.
2.) Concordance of SH numbers with VG inventory numbers, VG personal film numbers, particular Curium site, etc. Original: carbon mailed earlier.
3.) Summary of handles from Apollo site, with chronological notes. Original: carbon mailed earlier. (5.VI.54)
4.) Carbon copy of VG inventory for Cyprus, pages which cover SH 174 through SH 221, with the omission of SH 180-189 (numbers probably never given). Earlier sheets of this copy have been given to Curium already.
5.) Episkopi copies of two letters concerning the records of Curium, borrowed by me in April last, and now returned: a.) letter of May 1, 1941, from J.F.Daniel to G.H. McFadden; b.) letter of April 5, 1942, from V. Grace to Mrs. Dohan.
6.) Contact prints needed for the catalogue cards of stamped amphora handles, as noted during my visit in April 1954:
a.) From films taken some time ago, but prints lost or never received - anyway not on cards, and objects registered therefore as not photographed:
SH 1-17, 19-36, 38-39, 72.
b.) From new or rephotographed items:
SH 89-93, 95-96, 98, 105-106, 108-112, 114, 116-163, 166, 170-179, 190-210, 212-221.
Written on these prints are SH numbers, Cy (VG inventory) numbers, and (VG personal) film numbers. The pictures should be pasted on the SH cards, the numbers written beneath.
I am so sorry there is no time at the moment for anything but a covering letter, except for one thing I must say, and that is that I now believe that the trouble with Roll 255, which will be very obvious to you in these contacts, is due to bad film (too old) rather than to your camera in which it was exposed. I deduce this from the fact that the numbers read backward - not an effect of time, but of Emil's shop having been Kicking the cassette probably - which means a film for Delos, packed in 1951, which must have been kicked about ever since. I am so sorry to have troubled you about your camera. No doubt whatever was the matter with your second Gordian film of handles was ironed out by the overhauling done last year.
No more now, but best to you. [signature] Mr. Xonsenlo
