May 7, 1954Dear Rodney:

Regrets that I have been so long writing. There has been too much that was pressing to write about, and life has been busy and complicated the last few weeks with visiting VIP's et al. Mr. Hill arrived the 15th and we have been spending every day all day till sunset at Apollo. Virginia arrived shortly after to do some drawings and for a week. And over Easter there were Swiss visitors for Jack, and Virginia and I went to Jack has had an offer of the substitute job at Missouri. He still prefers our project and has tentatively turned Missouri down. He naturally asked for assurance that we would come through, and I have given it, hoping it would be desirable for you to come through. In any case, I think it gives us, when it does, say in a extract from the estate, for the purchase, ca. $2000. to salt away for him at the Museum, say in a special fund. If Bollingen does come through, it can then go toward Hannah.

The purchase, C, page 4, is now completed at this end. Sir P. and I have signed papers transferring all the things to my name for the Museum, and the application for transfer of the estate's payment of the $3600 to the Chase account in N.Y., but naturally not been sent to Nicosia, we can stand a little delay in the estate's until the rest of the Estate is settled. The Chase account still holds $3,100 or thereabouts, and I have ca. $1600.000 in the bank here. Dick's passage, of course, has been paid long since (May 14). I plan to try to sell the Number after Mr. Hill's departure (May 14).

Virginia managed to corral all the necessary Hermogenes papers while she was here. She did nobly in the time she had putting the Hermogenes records together and going over Lapithos material which we found stored in our back apotheke. What with Mr. Hill being here couldn't do too much about planning at the same time. She's too busy herself and God knows I'll have enough publication. I think I will let that skeleton rattle till on my hands with Apollo. Anyhow.

I hope some of the coins have arrived by now. You could have the deeds are clearer on Apollo, anytime after ca. Apr. 15, the second May 15 expected the first batch anytime after ca. Apr. 15, the second May 15 or so. But VG seemed not surprised that they are slow in traveling by surface mail. Let me know when they do.

Mr. Hill consulted Full, Blyth in Limassol about Cyprus Airways for me. The managers are knowledgeable in such matters and particularly well acquainted with this stock. They advise not to sell at a low rate. Mr. Hill thinks it a good suggest also that I see the manager in Nicosia. He transatlantic passages, and thinks one idea to try to exchange stock for them to sell. If one didn't give the impression that we had to sell. Architecture of course. Mr. Hill, it's very educational. I have been learning a lot from Mr. Hill, so it's very educational. I have never been one of my strong points, so it's pull out, but I plan to keep several places cry to be dug before we provide information for the these to the very minimum necessary to provide information for the publication of what already has been found. I am trying to entice Mabel to do the scratching, recording of finds and catalogue for me. She is coming for a visit to the end of May. I wish she would stay the summer, especially as Linda leaves for Turkey the 25th. Mr. Hill leaves and I hope this will do for a stop gap until after Mr. Hill leaves and I can get my wits back on track again. Is Dinga getting pudgy yet?
