… that th[handwritten: ]spurchase price of these items be deducted from the money (pounds) to be realized from the sale of stocks (Items 3 & 4 above) here by Sir Panyotis and paid into the Estate here, and that the dollars made available to us by the Girard Bank be deposited in the Curium account (joint checking account FR-GRE) in the Chase National Bank, Pine & Nassau Streets, New York.
This transaction, of course, would have to be approved by Mr. Ewing. It would mean that the Estate would have here here a balance of £1285-13-0. Having such a balance here may be desirable from the Estate's point of view, since Emily Harrison, who is one of the administrators, hopes to use part of the $10,000 charity bequest for charities in Cyprus (clinic for Episkopi, gifts to Limassol & Larnaca hospitals). A balance of pounds here in favor of the Estate could thus be used up, probably, in this way.
Emily Harrison is personally making provision for the members of the staff for whom provision was not made by George before his death or in his will:
1.Christos Gregoriou (foreman) £500-0-0
2.Savvas Socrati (cook) £200-0-0
3.Mustapha Hassan (former driver) £100-0-0
4.Michalis Chrysostomou (groom) £60-0-0
5.Christophis Polycarpou (draughtsman, accountantly) 50-0-0
She is also providing personally for the payment to Nov., 1,2,4 & 5 plus Neophytos Alexandrou (house boy from Nov., 1952) of the 10% wage increase from March 15, 1952 to Apr. 19, 1953 granted by George but retained for them by him until such time as they left his service. S. 1952. Mustapha Hassan was paid his 10% when he left in Nov. 1952. Andreas Alexandrou (former house boy), who left at the same time, was paid his 10%, and also received gifts totalling £85-0-0. Hence, it is considered that he has received all that George intended for him.
