January 2, 1957Mr. Joseph S. Last Curium Excavations Episkopi Limassol, Cyprus

Dear Joe:

Many thanks for the very amiable composite Christmas card. very pleasant indeed to receive the greetings of four such cheerful personalities all at once!

The immediate impetus for writing is to send the enclosed, a copy of the coin inventory which includes, among others, all those found in your waterworks and allied excavations. No doubt the extracting and contemplation of the identifications which concern your activities will occupy a number of the wintry hours and will cause you to call down blessings on my otherwise graceless head! I have sent Peter another copy to insert in the Miscosia copy of our Curium inventory. Will you be so kind, when you are through looking your copy over, as to cause this one to be inserted in the inventory at Curium?

The coins themselves are about to follow. I am sending them to Peter, who will no doubt have them deposited wherever the rest of the coins are stored, Curium I suppose.

I have been away so much and distracted by other things to the extent that a few (!) Curium details have slipped my memory. I had occasion recently to look through the Curium plans and drawings and among them I was unable to find the big grid plans I remember you were working on when I was there: of Kourion acropolis, I know, and I have memories of our at least discussing one for Apollo. Can you refresh my memory? Did it or they remain with you for further drawing? Or could it be that one of our other Curium collaborators snaked them away when I wasn't looking?

I did find one plan among those intended to accompany your waterworks publication, though, which suited my immediate purpose very well and which I should think would be fine to use in all the Kourion publications. It is entitled Kourion Territory, and was intended to show the complete courses of the aqueduct. Naturally it covers all the areas included in our excavations and would be fine for the reader's orientation in other volumes. It lacks, however,
