Mr. Sprecher informed me that the Consulate has sold all the personal effects listed in the articles inventory for the sum of £15 with the exception of the articles listed in the inventory required by Mrs. Ewing. The Consulate has sent to her. The U.S. currency listed in the inventory and the sum of £15 realised from the sale of the articles are also being sent to the executors by the Consulate, together with the non-negotiable instruments not taken over by me.
With regard to the lists prepared by Dr. Hill. I note from your letter dated 25th September, 1953, that the Executors are satisfied that Dr. Hill's determination of ownership as shown by the lists is correct. I have conferred with Mr. Edwards regarding them and the position is as follows:-
(1) List headed "Curium House Furniture". Sub-heading "GHMcF". The University Museum wishes to acquire all the articles listed, with the exception of the 6 Aladdin lamps required by Mrs. Ewing.
(2) List headed "Purchases by Mr. McFadden not of record in Cyprus as donations to Curium Excavations." As the articles listed were purchased as donations to the University Museum, they belong to the Museum, with the exception of the adding machine, typewriter, the Land Rover and Humber motor-cars, and the new Leica camera and meter, which, as stated in your letter dated 25th September, 1953, are the property of the deceased. Mr. Edwards informs me that the Museum wishes to purchase all the above articles belonging to the deceased.
(3) List headed "Mr. McFadden's private property in care of Groom-Gardener." The Museum wishes to acquire the last items on this list beginning from "1 garden plow (cultivator)" to the end "6 hurricane lamps" both inclusive.
(4) List headed "Curium Excavations property in care of Draughtsman" sic. The articles listed belong to the Museum with the exception of the scale for weighing letters which, according to your letter dated 25th September, 1953, belongs to the deceased.
