Afile: Curium
June 13, 1953Dear Mr. Hill:
Many thanks for your letter of June 1 and for your comments on Fales. We note carefully your misgiving about his ability to deliver and so, with all our reluctance here, we have decided to go it without Fales and his money, turning the work over to Benson. Roger feels much happier about it that way and I am sure Rodney will be relieved also.
Also, I am very grateful to you for having put the task of unscrambling accounts and ownership at Curium. There are certain legal difficulties there regarding Museum's veg George's personal property which may make an elaborate business necessary. For example, the executors here have suggested that they grant us additional money to buy anything we need among the things which turn out to be George's personal property. That is, bought from the estate. It would be much simpler if most of it turns out to be Museum property. With this in mind, we certainly look forward to your account.
We are all pleased that Roger will take charge at Curium and attempt to finish the publishing next year. Mrs. Homer Thompson is going to teach her during the absence of Roger and Rodney. Again I would like to thank you for all your trouble in this matter but of course realize that you would do it anyway because of your attachment to George and the expedition.
Best wishes,
Froelich Rainey Director
