Tuesday 26th May
Dear G. Roger: Another afternoon off because of rain - actually a thunder shower which came up at 3.30 and left things too muddy to dig. Tomorrow disposals of N. Alexander, and meet Marktree. Your report on joint conference arrived Sunday, among a flock of 70 or so visitors in two busses. So did not get much chance to digest it.
1) Technical staff: Christo, mender-foreman. Christofi - draftsman. I think he is considered competent for plans & drawings, doubt if he could undertake renderings or restorations. But will be improved if he goes to Athens to work with Travlos, as I suggested to Mr. Hill. Sarri - cook. The Apollo site has not yet been turned over to Cyprus Govt. So we are responsible for a guard. It was thought he could be guard while Photoulla's case was clear. Andreas - house boy } both left for other jobs before George's Mustafa - chauffeur } death. Fiti (Neophytos) brother of Andreas had taken over house-boy work, but as he was new we have no obligations to him. But he will probably be available. Joe Last will probably be there, and might do some architectural work. He taught Christofi all he knows about drawing. He has been working on the water supply of Curium as an independent interest of his own & perhaps we might tuck his results somewhere into the publication.
2) About the funds: the Museum should appoint you, and then ask the executors to transfer the stock to your name as representing the Museum. The stocks should then be sold when & where may be most advantageous, or when the money is needed. They are probably right about the Cyprus Airways stock; but the other has paid good dividend right along and will probably be worth par or more. In any case all the dividends possible should be collected - i.e., it should be held as long as possible.
