June 12, 1952Dear George:
Yours of the 4th just received. We did get the film off to you last week finally. It all went in one package air mail parcel post. Much fuss with post office over new forms and rigamaroles, was the film negative or positive, was it a commercial or non-commercial dealing, etc., etc. But it hasn't landed on the doorstep again, so expect it may be in your neighborhood by now.
Much interest, pro or con, at the Museum these days about proposed digging in Afghanistan which will probably involve Rodney, Ky Camman, and Carl Coon. The board has approved it, and it seems likely that they may make a beginning next year. Rodney to indoctrinate Ky in Buddhist sites in the north, to dig himself at Balkh (ancient Bactra), and Carl to investigate early man elsewhere in the country. Plans still nebulous but likely to go through.
Your sisters seem to have arrived yesterday. Haven't had a chance to see them yet, but Maxie and Jennie were much in evidence. Bobbie seems to have grown tremendously.
Have been wondering these hot days how you would feel about our using the swimming pool, especially in the evening after sweltering in the city? Mabel and I have been exploring the possibilities for bathing nearby and there seems to be none other in the neighborhood. If you didn't feel that this would be too much of an intrusion on your family's activities we would certainly appreciate the privilege.
Best greetings to you. Looking forward to your return.
Sincerely,
