THE UNIVERSITY MUSEUM UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA

CURIUM EXCAVATIONS EPISKOPI, LIMASSOL CYPRUS

24th May, 1951Associate Director, University Museum, 33rd & Spruce street, Philadelphia.

Handwritten: Dear Mr. McFadden:-

With reference to your cable of some two weeks ago I am enclosing a debit note sent to us by the agent who cleared Bob Stevens' film through customs. As Bob was anxious to receive this film as soon as possible it was cleared without consideration of duty which you will see is very high. As Bob, however, couldn't use all this film in Cyprus it is hoped that we shall be able to obtain a refund on at least a portion of the duty paid.

I have paid the debit note marked l to the amount of £ 92.17.7 which includes air freight as well as customs duty. I have also paid three other debit notes on Bob's behalf. These are enclosed also herewith. As he was short of funds he asked us to do this for him. The total comes to £ 135.15.7. Could you re-emburse our "Curium Excavations," account, the Ottoman Bank, Limassol, Cyprus, at your convenience.

Bob was delayed in Iran, as you probably know, so couldnt stay here as long as we had hoped he might. Owing to the shortness of time and the quantity of material we had for him, only a small selection of field and storeroom subjects could be photographed. We enjoyed his visit very much and feel sure that it will prove to have been a very valuable one.

Sincerely yours,
