20th March, 1950The Director, The University Museum, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa., U.S.A.
Dear Fro,
Many thanks for your letter of February 24th. The balance of $4,000 due has arrived. Thank you very much. In March 10th we received remittance of £345 & 7 shillings which was an amount realized on $972.31. We wonder whether the difference between this amount and $1,000.00 has been deposited to our account with the Museum to cover contingencies? Would you let me know about this so I can keep the books straight. I am crediting the remittance to the bluff account. I stopped at Kitzbuhel in Austria on my way back here for three days to go ski-ing with my sister, but hurt my leg on the first day which put a quietus on any further activity. I arrived at Athens just a day after Rodney. We both stayed at the American School there. We have resumed excavations with DeC on the bluff and myself at Apollo where I am clearing debris over the large temple. Your friend has not turned up yet but we are looking forward to seeing him soon.
Mr. Hill sends his best to both of you.
As ever,
