March 29, 1950Professor Alfred Bellinger Numismatic Room Sterling Library Yale University New Haven, Conn.
Dear Professor Bellinger:
We are sending you today a box of coins from Cyprus, for identification, and enclosed with this letter you will find two copies of a list of the coins. After you have received the coins and have checked them against the list will you kindly sign and return to us one copy?
I understand that you already know about these coins. They are a varied lot. A few were in such poor condition that they disintegrated completely during the cleaning operations, and others broke up into pieces, though some of the latter were mended later. In such cases I made a notation on the coin envelopes, and have included them with the rest for the sake of keeping all together. On the other hand many coins turned out to be in quite good condition, and even I, though no numismatist, was able to identify some. Many of the rest defied my best efforts at identification, and it will be interesting to see the results of your studies.
Mr. Fales was here in January, and was anxious to have results as soon as possible, so perhaps you could give your attention to his lot (those with C numbers) first. So far as I know there is no particular hurry for results from Mr. McFadden's lot.
Very truly yours,
