February 24, 1949Dear Mr. Last:

Since I last wrote you the insurance question has come up again and I wonder if you could answer a few questions to help us better understand the situation in Cyprus.

1. What insurance, if any, is customarily carried by owners of motor vehicles in Iran?

2. Is it customary to carry insurance to provide for loss as a result of damage by fire. If so, can you give us an estimate of the cost on a vehicle such as ours for a year?

3. Is there a legal requirement, or is it customary, for the owner of a motor vehicle to carry what we call public liability insurance to provide relief for personal injuries to people or damage to property as a result of the operation of a motor car. If it is customary to carry such insurance, can you tell us what the annual cost is?

Any information of suggestions you can give us will be greatly appreciated.

Very sincerely,
