14 February 1949Dear Fro,

I had a very pleasant trip back here. Angel and I were on the same plane. We came via London but had to land in Scotland on account of heavy fog as usual in the London area. Angel is staying at Nicosia for the present working on the Cyprus Museum's skeletal material but is planning to come down to join us sometime early in March. Fales hasn't arrived yet but we are expecting him next week. Mr. Hill plans to come some time in March; he hopes early in the month.

Pete has a very nice place in the local cemetery near the Christian church. Inasmuch as he is buried here I thought his wife, Alix, might want to come to Cyprus sometime, but I imagine she might not be able to afford to do so. I'd like to make this possible for her, if you and Mrs. Godfrey think it would be appropriate for the Museum to offer her the trip, or the passage out here and back. She has many friends in Greece and I think the idea would appeal to her. You wouldn't want to mention my name but I think I could contribute to anything which would be done in all events, but it was my thought that there wouldn't be any funds that could be made available for this kind of contingency. If you have something else in mind which you think might be more helpful to her I hope you will let me know.

The weather has been terrible since I arrived, raining almost every day but I'm hoping we'll be able to get out of the workrooms and into the field again by the first of March anyway.
