… in order so that we can have a distribution of finds from Bamboula I have found my things in shocking condition, and shall want to speak pretty solemnly to Mr. Hill when I see him. They have been moved several times since I left with very little care at any one time. Many things are missing and many more are badly mixed up. It is pretty clear to me who is responsible, and I was so mad yesterday that I almost took some of the film. They would have shown skis leaning up decided not to waste the time about it. I think that it is going against one open case of antiquities, a lawnmower and appurtenances pushed neatly stowed among other artiquities, still other antiquities, sulfur, aside to make room for an assortment of oats for the horses, shown the newly and I don't know what all. They would also have shown the newly discovered statue of Apollo sharing a shelf with an odd assortment of of tools, presumably belonging to the lawnmower. What it all adds up to is a certain lack of respect for the archaeological aspects of this expedition.

To turn to pleasanter thoughts, I have what I think is an instead excellent idea for a display in the study part of my section. I suggested before I would like of building a model of a tomb, as I found in it. I think not of one of our houses, to reconstruct full size one of the rooms, but rather of reproducing a complete complete restoration of the ancient room, with all the objects with the actual remains, with walls a foot or two high. we have one room which will suit perfectly the same position in place of the ones in aimost. there are all told, five successive floors within 29 centimeters, ranging in date from the 16th to the 12th centuries. The first house with the built and floor level, contained the well I mentioned above destroyed by fire, big the good Mycenaean vase was in place of decorated pieces, could be we found quite an assortment of objects in a couple of floor displayed in position vats, some oithoi, and other storage jars, etc. I think that the last period and the stone grinders, a foot of the utensils used in the stratification, with all the arranged so as to show the section to show the together with all the objects combining this with buildings on the same is with which the cross the succession of the very most important evidence for the daily found in each level. One of the abundant and I think this should be stressed excavations on Bamboula has been the and I think this should be stressed life of the ordinary citizen, of course, some fine works of art, which much of certainly deserve a place of honor. though I don't know how much of this would will be able to get. I really think that a very interesting exhibition can be made up in this way. I forget the actual dimensions of the room, but it must be about 12 x 15 feet. I will try to get everything unwieldy in the division of the first which is not too from this section, and I image that Megaw will cooperate. I wish you could have got out thai this fall to see Kourion. I really feel seven discounting site. There is nothing very large and very an unusually interesting, but I don't know of any site in this part of the world, (another University Museum dig) spectacular, but I don't know of Cournia in Crete (another University Museum dig) which the exception picture of ordinary houses in an ordinary city with the Late Bronze Age. There are lots of temples and lots of palaces, of very few blocks of houses of the middle class, complete with cemeteries, compelte with what goes to make but is of great importance historically as well, since fortification walls. The place is of great importance historically as well, since upaclty. It must have been one of the chief outposts we know from Herodotus that it was a colony of Argos, the very center of Mycenaean Greece at the time of its greatest power. Bamboula is
