5 March 1948Dear Prof, I am sending you herewith a statement of our expense account for the month of January. I am sending a copy to Pete for his own files. As there were no excavations during that month it may help to give you an idea of how much we are likely to spend when all work is confined to the workrooms. As the Youngs were here only during the first half of the month, the food item is comparatively low.

I am sending you also a general statement (enclosure B) for the period 1 January 1946 through 30 June 1947, showing our respective commitments for that period and the cash position at the close of the last fiscal year. At the close of the current fiscal year I will give you an itemized account. The statement of accounts I gave you last summer was approximate only and at a provisional rate of exchange as I think I explained at the time. I'd be very glad to explain anything which may not be altogether clear.

with kindest regards,

The Director, The University Museum, Philadelphia, Pa.
