To use it as an arguing point might prove effective but I think more is to be derived from it by not compromising a friendly gesture.

I have just received a reassuring letter from Mr. Hill in which he writes that he wouldn't blame us if we had already long abandoned any hope that he might be coming down to join us, but that he is coming down none the less, and hopes to stay now longer than he thought would have been possible at first. This is because Mr. Blegen is not going to dig at Pylos in Greece as he had been planning to earlier in the year. So I am still hoping he will be here to take over from me for the division of finds.

I have been keeping in touch with Mr. Daniel and I finally got my paper off to him about a month ago as you will have heard from him. It is a report on the Hellenistic cemetery as a whole, but one tomb is singled out out among many others for detailed publication for many interesting and characteristic features. The finds from this tomb make an interesting group. It is the beginning of an effort to help fill a sadly neglected gap in the Archaeology of that period.

Yesterday we had our first day of Summer with the temperature rising into the eighties. We are taking advantage of the weather and sowing the expedition corn crop which should take care of us for three months anyway. As far as I know it is the only American sweet corn in the island.

Hoping to hear from you soon, and with kindest regards, I am, Sincerely yours,
