Cyprus as an alternative for which he will advance 50% of the funds required up to $1,500.00. A decision on this will await Dr. Daniel's arrival which is scheduled for May 26th.

2. Because of the considerable rise in costs, the $4000.00 originally allocated to the Curium Excavations for this season will not be sufficient. Mr. McFadden suggested that $5000.00 will probably be required from September to July and stated he would be willing to continue his support on the present basis: Museum paying only 25%. This plan was unanimously approved by the Board.

3. Mr. McFadden reaffirmed his desire to contribute to the Museum's activities other than Cyprus and asked that a financial report be sent him.

Heizer Mr. Lloyd's Gift

Mr. Madeira pointed out that in the absence of any action on the request of Robert F. Heizer for a grant to continue his work in the Sacramento Valley Mr. Lloyd had very generously contributed $150.00 for that purpose.

Dr. Mary Butler

Dr. Butler has asked for a grant to enable her to write the report on the work she had done in Alta Vera Paz in Guatemala on a grant from the American Philosophical Society. Inasmuch as this material is wanted by Dr. Kidder the Board approved the sum of $250.00 with additional funds forthcoming if necessary.

Pacific Loan

The Worcester Art Museum has asked to borrow the Pacific material now on exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. The loan was approved with the understanding that the Staff would choose substitutes for the more fragile pieces.

Piedras Negras Monuments

A bill of over a thousand dollars has been received for the preliminary handling of the Piedras Negras monuments. Further work has been postponed pending the report of experts on the treatment of the stones for reproduction and shipping. Mr. Madeira is in touch with the War Shipping Board concerning space and with the Guatemalan government on values.

Classical Section

A motion was approved by the Board to spend the income from the Sharpe Fund on completely modernizing the Classical Section.

Entertainment Fund

A further motion was approved to increase considerably the Entertainment Fund as a necessary means of promoting interest in the Museum.

After other plans for improving and advancing the Museum were discussed the meeting adjourned.
