January 24, 1940My dear Miss Grace:-

Upon my return to the Museum this morning after a short absence, due to grippe, I found your letter of January 18th. On Friday afternoon I had a phone message from the American Express Co., Mr. McCue, with whom I had had a previous conversation. I told him of your visit to the Italian Line, he had a talk with them, and the result was that the Comptroller sent a cheque to the Express Co. in the sum of $270. to cover your passage on the Saturnia which sails on February 10th.

As we could not and neither could John Daniel tell what your travel expenses might be from Greece to Cyprus we are sending you a cheque for $70. which should no doubt be adequate for your needs. When you reach Cyprus will you give Mr. McFadden an itemized account of your expenditures?

We have had no word about your passport. Mr. Jayne tells me that he wrote a letter which was to accompany your own application.

Very truly yours

Secretary
