George, and has since found that he does not have the necessary funds.

Crosby also suggested that I ask you to give me a letter of reccomendation, sending it to him, I assume (H.Lamar Crosby, Dean of the Graduate School, Univ. of Pa., Philadelphia). I would greatly appreciate your doing this.

So, barring accidents, I will be back in Athens on the 16th, and hope to find you there. In any case I assume that they will know at your house where you are and what your plans are.

Hoping you are well, I remain,

Yours truly,

P.S.,

Christo writes that he has found a large dump at the "skamata", in the wild eroded section to the left of the automobile road, in the first valley after Apollo. He sounds quite excited about it, and says that there are many fragments of excellent sculpture, mostly archaic. He has written to George, and, in true Cypriote style, asked me to write him about it too, which I shall do, though I doubt that George will have any more difficulty reading Christo's letter than I did with the one he wrote me.
