Bpiskopi, Limassol, Cyprus.

November 16, 1937G.H.McF.

Dear Mr. Hill,

We had a very good sail here and arrived at Limassol the last day of October. We had nothing but favourable winds and fine weather and were under sail for all but a few hours. We made Rhodes just under two days, were a day there, and another two days brought us to Cyprus. I left Nikita in fine health; I think the sail did him no end of good. [handwritten: I just received a cable, though, from him yesterday saying poor Herklerk died on Sunday afternoon.] I was naturally very upset about this as he has been with us ever since I bought the "Samothrace" and I was quite fond of him. It will be impossible to replace him, and I have a feeling too, of real personal loss.

George [handwritten: I] found unfortuneately had gone to England, apparently without any intention of returning here. His brother says he is making plans to go to South Africa, and has a job for the moment. Pete says he has gone to see his sister in London. Pete says he has been writting him to come and see the devorced wife who had been writting him to come and "save her". [handwritten: This is all very tragic I think with his children in Cyprus whom he's left with his mother. Pete says life had become impossible for him here. We miss him very much.]
