July 24, 1937Dear McFadden:-
I have for several weeks been intending to write to you but so much was on hand to be done after my return from Europe that it has been deferred until now.
Particularly, I wished to tell you the prospects for the continuance of our financial support are very satisfactory, perhaps at a somewhat increased figure, so that at least the nucleus of a publication fund can be formed, which, as the work progresses, becomes increasingly advisable. At the June meeting, however, the Board did not feel itself in a position to make any appropriation definite for our fiscal year 1937-38, so that no action will be taken until its next meeting at the end of September. Wherefore, it would greatly assist me if in the course of the next few weeks after you receive this you could send me some brief report on the work so far accomplished this year at Curium and an outline of your plans for next year. And if we could have some photographs it would be even better, since the Board especially enjoys seeing actual pictures of our work, and we could probably use these, too, in an autumn issue of our Bulletin.
As yet I have received no word from the Illustrated London News, wherefore I can only suppose that inasmuch as the material has not appeared they found no place for it. We can perhaps try them again with this season's new material, for they cannot always be oblivious to its interest and importance.
Please give my kind regards to Mr. Hill and let us hear from you from time to time. With best wishes, I am
Sincerely yours,
Horace H. F. Jayne DIRECTOR.
