August 13, 1935Dear Mr. Jayne,

Thank you very much for your cable assuring $2,000.00 for the Autumn season for the Curium Expedition. The check should be drawn in favour of Curium Excavations and sent to Mr. Hill, 9 Plutarch Street Athens. I suggest your doing this as we shall not be going to Cyprus before the very end of September. Mr. Hill will then be able to [handwritten: endorse] it and send it to the Ottomoan Bank at Limassol. I am sure he will want to draw against these funds to cover preliminary expenses before the Fall campaign begins.

I just returned here yesterday from Germany and expect to see Mr. Hill in a week or so. I know that he will be very encouraged, as the Museum's contribution means that we 'll be able to continue our excavations on a reasonable scale for another season.

As soon as you are able to, I would appreciate it very much if you would let me [handwritten: know what prospects there may be for a Spring season, as it is becoming more and more necessary to make plans in advance. With many thanks and appreciation of your efforts to keep the Cyprus expedition going.]

Sincerely yours
