We cleared out the other house, and returned the keys on the 13_th_/. The receipt is enclosed. Lazarus, who returned the keys, did it rather about the receipt, so that I had to go to him for it, and had a most unpleasant time. At first he flatly refused to sign anything dated before the 20_th_/, but finally, after I had grown a bit impatient, he gave me the document which I am enclosing. He says that we still owe him for June to July, and he has some far-flown ideas of what he wants for his unfinished kitchen. I told him to write to you.

Expenses for the first week came to £8-18-3/4, of which the main items were: wages 4-5- Lazarus £3-0-0, Savas 0-8-0, and my food 0-13-61/4 Georgiou (12-) [not in the 8-18-3/4]/ - The balance on Sunday was (31/4 grosche below the figures as calculated) £8-9-5. Much of that, I suspect, will go this week. Needless to say, I shall be glad to see your check arrive.
