removed the stones. I didn't find any more coins. There was very great excitement here for a minute of or two when I found a fair sized piece of a pot and another human jaw bone in the floor. They do not seem to continue, but I will investigate the floor more thoroughly where Christos is on the hill.
Michali has been most useful on the hill. He found a large column, apparently in situ, about ten meters west of trench III, and some other stones which seem to be in place, and probably bear some relation to the column. He claims to have found another stairway on the west toff cliff, leading to the high northern region. I haven't seen it.
He showed me a huge cistern on the south scarp of the mosaic hill. It is between 5 and 10 meters deep, and according to Michali, is fed by underground channels like those in Sawa's cistern on the hill.
