Corinth, Greece. May 3,1934.
H.H.F. Jayne,Esq., Director, University Museum, Philadelphia,Pa. Dear Mr. Jayne,
Mr. McFadden reached Pireus on his schooner Samothrace the seventh of April;he drove out here and we had out first conference about Curium the ninth. He used the next days in attending to sundry repairs on the yacht, and on the fifteenth took me to Pireus via the coast of Corinthia and Epidauria, which I had long wished to see from the water. I thus had opportunity to become familiar with my quarters on the boat and with its resources as our possible headquarters off Curium.
After a second week in Pireus the Samothrace sailed to Crete and after a few days there is to proceed to Rhodes. Mr. McFadden expects to arrive there early next week and I hope to join him a few days later.
As third member of the staff we have asked Mr. J. Franklin Daniel,University of California 1932,and at present member of the American School at Athens. He is joining McFadden at Candia to-day.
I hear from Mr. Dikaios that our Permit for Curium is in order, though he was not able to secure owner's permission to dig in quite all of the fields he wished. We shall however doubtless have room enough.
My address in Cyprus is to be Poste Restant,Limasol.
Sincerely yours,
