Dear Doctor Hill:

Mr. Jane has just cabled you I think about my interest in excavating Curium this Spring.

I have a sixty foot schooner with an auxiliary motor which I may probably bring, if you are free to go. It would give me great pleasure to hand her over to you for whatever use you may be able to make of her.

The boat has four fairly comfortable, though small, cabins, besides the forecastle for the crew, and Captain's cabin, and a comfortable salon with book shelves; also a deck house.

If you think it would practicable we might possibly live aboard of her.

I could have her at Athens before the Expedition to transport whatever you might want to take along.

She is very seaworthy, being an ex-pilot boat built for the North Sea in Winter and can stand about any kind of weather.

I know that harbors are not very abundant in Cyprus. The nearest one to Curium being Limasol, which, however, is near enough in case of heavy seas. According to the pilot books, the anchorage off Curium ought to be pretty good. We could, of course, commute between Curium and the harbor at Limasol but this might prove too much of a nuisance.

I should appreciate it very much if you would let me know if you think this suggestion of living aboard the boat seems at all practicable.

I thought possibly I might visit Crete before going to Cypress and if you are free around the twentieth of March I could meet you at Athens, then.

If you should happen to favor any other site in preference to Curium we could discuss that when I come over, as I have no definite feeling about any particular site, though Mr. Jane thought after reading your letter that Curium might be the best.
