End of excavation in J8/1-J8/2
J8/2 . Main features:
- incomplete massif 491, in the same alignment as 459, 488, 490. The massif, whose central alignment is on a steep slope towards the north, was covered with brick earth: it still covers the west alignment, visible in south section (sounding). A raised witness of this massif was left to the east, above the probable east alignment.
- clearing of buttress 493 of wall 432.
- deep sounding, in J8/1-J8/2, at the foot of buttress 449: floor 477 and marmaro 447 reached. In this sector, it appears that a "parapet" separated the "basins" from floor 477: the plastered impression of a low wall (of slabs ?), bordering to the north the marmaro plaques, and rising 0.50 m above floor 477.
Remarks: - in the sounding, situated below the level of fill of brick earth which covers massif 491, the fill is exclusively formed of crushed yellow sandstone; - it is above this fill, separated by a layer of konos and stones, that the "wall" packing 450 is founded (excavation 1985)
